One (1) Regular Full-Time Non-Exempt Vacancy

Anticipated Hiring Range: $15.86 - $21.46

DEFINITIONThe purpose of this job/class within the organization is to plan, coordinate & conduct fire safety inspections of new and existing buildings for compliance with the adopted City and State fire and life safety codes and standards.

This job/class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all inclusive): Conducts work in the areas of fire safety inspections, fire prevention, fire code enforcement, and public fire education. Plans, coordinates and conducts fire safety inspections of new and existing buildings for compliance with state and local fire and life safety codes and standards. Issues violation notices, investigates complaints relating to fire and life safety hazards, and confers with violators to explain regulations and corrective actions. Conducts new occupational license fire safety inspections; prepares documentation of inspections, related reports and forms, and letters of correspondence. Educates the public in various life safety areas and assists business owners in providing for owner/occupant safety. Reviews and interprets plans and specifications of new construction projects and fire protection/detection systems for fire code compliance. Conducts acceptance testing and inspections on fire protection/detection systems to verify systems are installed and maintained in accordance with the appropriate codes and standards. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. (Upload to Resume Tab on Work bright)

Preferred six months of experience in fire safety and prevention, fire code compliance or closely related experience.

Preferred six months of experience and a thorough knowledge in commercial construction plan review. 

Preferred experience in Firehouse or MobileEyes Software

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Requires a driver's license valid in the State of Florida. (Upload to Resume Tab on Work bright) Requires a Florida Fire Safety Inspector certification at time of appointment.  (Upload to Resume Tab on Work bright)
