DEFINITION: This is a lead worker position involved in performing, and directing landscaping and custodial duties in the City's parks, park buildings, including athletic fields, and other publicly owned areas. The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to oversee and lead the custodial and janitorial maintenance and repair of all park facilities, and other publicly owned areas. This job/class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all inclusive): Determines requirements, supervises and inspects the work of staff engaged in the maintenance of park facilities, inspections of parks, and the security of park and City property properties. Oversees and conducts maintenance, repairs, and service to City parks, and other publicly owned areas. Assists custodians in routine daily duties including moving furniture, carpentry work, plumbing repairs, mechanical repairs, minor electrical repairs, cleaning, painting, and security related issues. Perform routine grounds maintenance activities such as mowing and edging lawns, planting and trimming hedges. Layout, plant, trim, weed, fertilize and apply mulch to flower and landscape beds. Clean graffiti from City streets and structures. Clean sidewalks, awnings, City buildings and recreation facilities as needed. Secure various City facilities as needed. Set up chairs, tables, and other equipment for activities as needed. Assist maintenance crews in removing and compacting earth with shovels, clearing debris, picking up litter, and carrying tools and equipment. Ensure availability of needed materials and supplies. Visually check equipment and report maintenance or repair problems at the beginning and the end of the workday, assuring equipment is properly equipped, serviced and cleaned. Assist in the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems, equipment and related components. Perform custodial and general maintenance work for the City's utility facilities and grounds as is applicable. Assist in preparation of facilities for special events and 24-hour emergency callout as is applicable. Construct, repair and maintain baseball, softball, soccer, and other types of athletic fields if needed. Keep log book of all activities at each system as is applicable. Consults technical documentation; coordinates with other departments on work requirements; plans and lays out work; requisitions parts and supplies; assigns work and instructs subordinates. Orders, receives, stores and issues stocked materials; maintains supply inventory control; acts as key custodian for City parks under charge. Supervises assigned staff; interviews and recommends hires, trains employees, plans, assigns, and directs work; evaluates performance and recommends discipline; addresses complaints and resolves problems. Investigates complaints from citizens and other departments; initiates appropriate

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college in construction, facility maintenance or closely related field. Requires six years in housekeeping, security, facility maintenance or closely related experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Requires a Florida Class B CDL within six (6) months of appointment. Requires certifications in CPR and First-Aid within six (6) months of appointment.
